Visual communication design is not
another word for graphic design. Communication as such is a
process and visual communication is designing this process,
yet visible in products. Process
precedes product.
The main focus in design research, development and education
should therefore not be on skills how to shape graphic products
but on understanding how to use a visual language as communication
tool. In a way it is the further development of Sullivan's thesis
'form follows function'. |
